Become a Beef Expert:

Our Mission and Purpose:

Our mission is to serve our customers. We serve customers by providing healthy, nutrient-dense beef in a transparent, easy, and stress-free manner.

At Rabun Ranch, we believe your beef should be better: It should be better for your health, the animals, the environment, the community, your food security, and better for—your farmers.

We grew up in Augusta, Georgia; I can remember how a brief drive 10 minutes out of the City landed you in the middle of nowhere, but that nowhere was where our food came from. Rural farms breathed life into our community. We didn’t depend on big chain stores or famous brands to deliver our food—we relied on our farmers.

Today, we believe our food is making us unhealthy & sick; it’s hard to know what's in it, or from where it comes. We exist to remedy these problems..

Rabun Ranch is a direct farm-to-table beef producer located in Keysville, Georgia, dedicated to bringing you the highest quality beef with full transparency. Our beef is expertly processed, dry-aged for 14 days, and skillfully cut, and vacuum-sealed for a shelf life of up to 2 years.

Whether you want a healthier option or a more delicious morsel, we are here with Better Beef.

Why we prefer to sell our beef by the share:

Why we sell Beef by the Whole, Half, Quarter, & Eighth Share:

We usually harvest, pack, and ship our beef at the peak grass season, instead of shipping beef year-round like an industrial farm does who sends their cattle out West to finish on grain in crowded feedlots.

By mating together our harvest season with our peak grass growing season we can finish cattle well on grass without supplementing them with grain.

We are also a small family farm with a small team.  Selling our beef by the share allows us to serve customers and still have time to run the farm and produce the best beef we can. Selling by the piece, like a grocery store, means we to have to store, manage and continually be selling unsold beef. This is something a staff of 2 or 3 can not do, and also have a family life with kids, and have time to work cattle, something grocery stores do not have to do!

Selling by the share further means the whole cow gets honored by being totally utilized to feed families who share this value. Respect for our cattle and utilizing each completely is critically important to everyone here at Rabun Ranch.

We have also found having a freezer full of all-natural beef also gives customers the peace of mind of having food security and give busy mothers flexibility with what they can cook for dinner.

Buying beef by the share also gives people a connection to their food and farmers.

How is our beef finished?

Hello, Local Beef Lovers,

At Rabun Ranch Beef, we take great pride in the quality of our finished livestock products. Our usual practice is to finish our livestock on grass, as it offers numerous benefits for the animal's well-being and the overall quality of the end product. However, we would like to bring a couple of exceptions to your attention:

1. Drought Years:

In certain circumstances, such as drought, grass availability is limited. During such periods, we adapt our approach and utilize alternative feeding methods to ensure the health and nutrition of our livestock. Please understand this is not like a commercial feedlot out West. The livestock is not confined. They have free-choice access to an all-natural feed and our pastures.

2. Customer Requests:

We understand that you, as our customer, may have specific preferences or requirements for finishing the livestock you purchase from us.  We will accommodate your request If you want a grain finish for your animals. Your satisfaction is our top priority. Remember to request your grain finish 2 - 3 months before you want your steer harvested.

Please rest assured that any deviations from our standard grass-finishing practice are made carefully considering factors such as animal welfare, your preferences, and the availability of alternative feed sources. We strive to maintain the highest quality standards in our finished livestock products while remaining flexible and responsive to our and your needs.

If you have any questions, concerns, or specific requests regarding our finishing procedures, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team. We are here to address any inquiries or provide you with further information. Please contact us at info@rabunrachbeef.com.

Thank you for choosing Rabun Ranch Beef as your trusted provider of quality beef products. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to serving you with excellence.

Best regards,

Your Farmers,

Kelly, Courtney, Julie, Cole, and Hank Rabun

Once I order, how long will it take to receive our order?

Great question!

The time to fulfill your order once we receive it can vary. If you order one of our smaller boxes, the chance we can fulfill your order quickly is very good, but even then it may take longer.

Why is this true? If we have recently harvested a group of steers and picked the packaged beef up from our processor, and it is not all pre-sold, we will be able to fulfill you order quickly, but in many cases orders have already been reserved by other customers and the amount of beef available to fulfill more orders may not be available until we harvest more steers.

It takes about a month to deliver new animals to the processor and then, dry-age, cut, vacuum pack, fresh-freeze beef, pick up the beef, fulfill orders and ready them for delivery.

The moral of the story is we have a first in, first our order fulfillment policy for all our orders.

Therefore, our recommendation is to place your reservation as soon as you can.

Why buy our beef?

What you should expect from your farmers and their beef:

At Rabun Ranch, we believe you should expect more from your beef:

My Story:

My Story

Many can remember rural communities, families, and farms. Do you remember women canning and cooking altogether in the kitchen? I do! I remember the men outside together taking care of the animals. Then when the chores were done, going off together to fish, hunt or throw a horseshoe or two.

What happened to those communities? Those values? Those memories of us just sitting around snapping beans freshly picked from the garden?

I think I know. First, the cows and livestock left. Then the people left, and with them, a way of life was lost.

The consequences of this migration at first went unnoticed. Average weight went up. Type two diabetes rates accelerated along with many other modern maladies such as coronary arteriosclerosis. What changed? What is the underlying reason for these increases? There may be many, but one contributing reason may be a shift from whole, fresh, nutrient-rich food off the farm, to processed food.

Our farm is the result of this change and its negative effect on my, and some of my friends and family's health.

At 50 years of age I needed by-pass surgery on my heart, I had gained weight, and developed type 2 diabetes. I also lost two sisters to cancer.

What was going on? How could I, and others, regain a normal weight, healthy hearts, develop a better ability to resist the scourge of cancer, and regain normal blood glucose levels?

Our belief is we can't "till the cows come home". We need vibrant rural communities again. We need real food. We need local food. We need local sustainable food supplied by local farms.

We want to be part of the solution to our industrial food supply producing processed food making us obese and unhealthy. We want to be part of a "back to the farm" movement where local families produce healthy, nutrient-rich, whole food on local farms. We want to be part of giving you an alternative. Not everyone can move back to the farm, but we can all support local farm fresh food and the local farms that produce it.

Please join us! We want to be your local farm! We want you to know where your food is produced! We want you to know everything about how our animals are raised!

Join us for a healthier tomorrow. Join us to bring "The Cows Back Home".

The Cuts Of Beef You will Receive:

The cuts of beef you can expect with our order

All our shares from a One Eighth Beef Share to the Whole Beef Share have the same standard cuts. They only differ in the number of cuts you will receive.

Let me give you an example:

A 1/8 share box is our standard box for understanding an estimate of the cuts you will receive.

We learned we can divide and pack a whole steer into 8 separate 16x16x16 boxes, with the exact same content. The 1/8 beef share became our standard box.

If you want to order a 1/4 beef share we deliver you two 1/8 shares. If you want a 1/2 beef share, we deliver to you four 1/8 share boxers and so forth.

Below, Please find the Cuts found in our 1/8 Beef Share.

You can convert this to a 1/4 Beef Share by multiplying the number of cuts by 2, to a ½ share by multiplying by 4, and a 1/1 whole beef share by multiplying by 8.

AT OUR FARM AN EIGHTH BEEF SHARE IS APPROXIMATELY 50 to 55 LBS. OF BEEF.

YOUR SHARE WILL INCLUDE:

24 LBS OF HAMBURGER,

2 Bone-in RIBEYE STEAKS,

2 Filets,

2 Bone-in NY Strips,

2 SIRLOIN STEAKS,

2 packs of short ribs

2 packs of Stew beef

2 Cube Steak Packs(E2ach pack contains 2 individual 1 lbs. pound cubed steaks.

2- ROAST

Even though we can guarantee you will receive between 50 lbs. To 52 lbs. Per EIGHTH BEEF SHARE, Please remember, cattle have individual maturity weights that vary. Due to this, the number of cuts an individual steer will provide will vary slightly, and the estimated number of cuts you will receive cannot be absolutely guaranteed.

The number of individual pieces of beef you receive is also affected by your cut sheet. If you prefer your steaks be cut thicker than our preferred 1 to 1.25 inch thickness, you will receive a fewer number of steaks, but you will receive the same poundage.

A final point. There are some items that cannot be divided evenly by eight and many people do not want these items anyway. Because of this fact, we have chosen to list items such as liver, bones, fallow, and like items separately on our product page so people who want these items as add-on purchases, may do so.

A bonus for buying a whole or half beef share is you can elect to get everything. All the tallow, bones, stew-meat, brisket, liver, and etc. for a whole beef share, and 1/2 of everything for a Half Beef share!

What size freezer will you need?

What size freezer will I need?

  • You want to make sure you have the freezer space to store your beef. A rule of thumb is that 1 cubic foot of freezer space is needed to store 30 to 35 pounds of beef.
  • 1/8 Beef Share: requires approx. 1.5 - 2.0 cubic ft. of freezer space. This will fit in a regular refrigerator-freezer compartment. It will take about half the space, which will leave room for other goods. No big freezer needed
  • 1/4 Beef Share: requires approx. 3.5 - 4.0 cubic ft. of freezer space. This will fit in a small chest or upright freezer.
  • 1/2 Beef Share: will require 7 to 8 cubic feet of freezer space.
  • Whole Beef: requires approx. 14 - 16 cubic ft. of freezer space. This will fit in a large chest/upright freezer.

Beef: The Myth, The Legend, and the Reality!

The Story of Cattle and Beef: Reality versus the Myth, the Legend, and the Reality.

Hello, from Rabun Ranch Beef.

How Beef is raised matters!  When beef is raised using rotational grazing and regenerative farming practices, the resulting beef has an increased density of many health-sustaining nutrients. But what nutrients are naturally occurring in that higher density? Here are some of the most common nutrients found in our farm-to-table meats, along with the health benefits of each:

Protein: Protein is an essential nutrient that helps to build and repair tissues, and is necessary for the production of enzymes, hormones, and other chemicals in the body. Meat is a rich source of protein and can help to support muscle growth and maintenance, as well as immune function.

Iron: Iron is a mineral that is essential for the production of red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the body's tissues. Meat is a good source of iron, and can help to prevent iron-deficiency anemia, a condition that can cause fatigue and weakness.

Zinc: Zinc is a mineral that is important for immune function, wound healing, taste, smell, and vision. Meat is a good source of zinc and can help to support healthy growth and development.

Vitamins: B vitamins are a group of vitamins that play a role in energy metabolism, brain function, and the production of red blood cells. Meat is a good source of Vitamin B and can help to support healthy energy levels and brain function.

Omega-3 Fatty Acid: Omega-3 helps to lower blood pressure, reduce triglycerides, slow the development of plaque in the arteries, reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythms, and reduce the likelihood of heart attack and sudden cardiac death in people who have heart disease.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid(CLA): CLA is a naturally occurring fatty acid. It helps regulate weight, promotes fat loss.

Books:

If you are interested in discovering how local farms can be healing for the environment as well as for the human body, we are pleased to recommend the following books on this topic: "Grazed and Confused" by Nicolette Hahn Niman In this book, Nicolette Hahn Niman explores the role of livestock in regenerative agriculture and how animals can be used to improve soil health and promote biodiversity.

She also covers the importance of animal welfare in regenerative farming systems."Dirt to Soil"by Gabe Brown- This book provides an in-depth look at the principles ofregenerative agriculture, with a focus on soil health and how regenerativefarming practices can improve soil fertility and increase crop yields.

"Sustainable Dish" by Diana Rodgers - This cookbook, written by a registered dietitian and regenerative farmer includes recipes and information on the health and environmental benefits of sustainably raised meat and other whole foods. It also includes chapters on the principles of regenerative agriculture and how these practices can improve soil health and promote environmental sustainability. We hope you will find these books to be useful resources as you learn more about the importance of proper farming practices and the essential benefits of farm-to-table meat in your daily diet.

Rabun Ranch Beef Reviews

"Forget everything you thought you knew about beef. Grass-fed? More like flavor-exploded, texture-perfected, nutrition-packed gold on a plate. From the first succulent bite, I knew this was a game-changer. This was my first time ordering from Rabun Ranch and they made the process seamless.

As someone who loves to spend time in the kitchen trying new things, their grass-fed beef was perfect to experiment with and shines in all preparations. I will be ordering from them again!"

Makes the best burgers!

This is the third time this year we have ordered from Rabun Ranch! When I tell you that you have yet to eat a burger this delicious, I am not exaggerating! From our first bite, my wife looked at me and said "We have to order more". We ordered the 30 lbs to stock our freezer for the winter. Trust me you won't go back to store-bought ground beef!

reparations. I will be ordering from them again!

Try it!

This was my first order from Rabun Ranch. If you are on the fence about trying them out, this is the one to get! You can taste the difference in quality grass-fed beef. The care they take in packaging alone should let you know about the quality.

Those cast iron burgers were incredible!
