A Dream so big, I can taste it! Building a generational farm to benefit family and community

Open heart surgery, and diabetes by the age of 50; Cancer contributed to the premature death of two of his sisters. These events caused my dad, Dr. Henry E. Rabun, Jr to want to know more about our food supply.

He saw small family farms around Augusta were gone. Commercially run farming operations replaced the local farm. Local cattle were loaded on large, crowded trailers, sent out West, put in crowded feed lots, and finished as quickly as possible on high-calorie grain. How did this affect our beef? How did commercialization affect the rest of our food supply?

This is how a dream was born to create a local generational cattle operation to benefit his family’s health and to give Augusta a secure, local source of naturally raised beef. This dream is now becoming a reality and is called Rabun Ranch Beef.

Our mission is to raise beef that is better for your health, better for the cattle, better for the environment, better for the local community, and better for the farmer.

We desire to be part of a local food movement providing fresh, whole food to our community.
